Privacy Policy
The Revelstoke Bear Aware Society gathers contact information for the purpose of creating and maintaining its membership and financial support, as well as a database of volunteers willing to aid in Bear Aware activities. The Society will conserve the privacy of information concerning its members and concerned citizens, as outlined in British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPA), which was created to regulate how organizations gather, store, and use personal data. Any information gathered is for the exclusive use of Revelstoke Bear Aware to carry out its daily functions. Every attempt is made to ensure the data is accurate and up to date. Any individual or organization has the right to refuse consent to the collection or use of their information.
Personal Data
Any and all information collected from individuals, including names, phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses will be used solely in the creation and maintenance of a membership database. This information will be used only for contacting the general membership, the sending of the biannual newsletter, and Society updates. All data is stored in a secure location and is only accessible to the Bear Aware Coordinator and authorized individuals. These data will not be available to any third party. Upon request, any personal data will be returned and/or destroyed promptly, subject to the PIPA regulations. All information collected will be kept for a minimum of one year (as required by PIPA).
Volunteers
Data collected concerning volunteers will be kept in a secure location accessible only by the Bear Aware Coordinator and authorized individuals. The purpose of retaining this information is to maintain a database of individuals willing to participate in certain activities undertaken to implement Bear Aware measures in the city of Revelstoke. Information may be returned or destroyed at the behest of the individual, subject to the PIPA of BC. These data will not be available to any third party or used for other purposes.
Website
The Revelstoke Bear Aware Society website is designed to provide information to the community of Revelstoke, and to function as an educational tool for the city. The Bear Aware Society does not own or use IP recording software or cookies. The website shall not contain membership or volunteer lists.
Any associated links to external websites are independent of Revelstoke Bear Aware. The Revelstoke Bear Aware Society is not responsible for the content or privacy policies of these sites. Donations and Funding Contributions
Donators and funding contributor lists will not be publicized without the express consent of the individual or organization in question. Any financial information provided to the Revelstoke Bear Aware Society will be stored in a secure location, accessible only to authorized individuals for accounting and reporting activities only. Annual reports will contain details concerning sources of funding. Businesses, organizations, and individuals who are concerned with financial privacy issues should contact the Bear Aware Coordinator for more information, and refer to the PIPA website.
